Four Ways to Earn Income
in America Today
If you live in the great United States of America, you have four different options on how to provide income for yourself as an individual (besides living off of the government, a.k.a. taxpayers). Any form of making income will fit into one of these four areas.
As I go through these four areas I want you to ask yourself a couple of questions,
1. Which areas do I currently make my income from?
2. If I had a choice, which areas would I choose to earn my income from?
Area #1- Employee (J.O.B.) - You work for someone else for income. This area almost always includes paid by the hour, salaried, and commissioned positions. You trade your time and/or services for money. Ultimately someone else is making money on your efforts.
Area #2 - Self-Employed - You work for yourself either representing yourself or a business usually. This can range from independent contractor work to owning a franchise(if you work in the franchise). For most it is better then an employee, almost always paid based on performance. You most likely still have to sacrifice time for money.
Area #3 - Business Ownership - You are the business owner. You are the provider of either goods or services. All facets of the business run independent of you. All businesses have expenses and revenues. When revenues exceed expenses that is called profit, and profit is the income of business owners.
Area#4 - Investments - Income is made strictly from savings vehicles.
